The Granary

The sensitive fit-out of the Grade II* Listed Granary Building as a office for a Leeds-based design consultancy.

Originally a warehouse on the Leeds Liverpool canal, the interior spaces of Granary Building a defined by heavy stone walls spanned by cast-iron jack-arch floor structures. The project required careful consideration of how the space could be repurposed as an office, whilst respecting the historic structure.

Floor treatments and free-standing furniture are used in a light-touch approach to divide the space into separate areas for working, meeting and socialising without impacting the building's historic fabric. This serves the separate requirement for adaptability, enabling the consultancy to update the layout at low-cost when the need arises.
